4th year short film project:

My forth year project was a short film made entirely by me. I wanted to focus on background work but still wanted to make a film. The film is very background focused. The style was made to replicate a painterly style.

To create the backgrounds I would block out the shapes and fill them in. I used one brush for everything and would adjust the size to get the finer details. I hoped this would help the backgrounds feel more like paintings.

This is a Goblin Character that I am designing for my third year short film. He is a tiny goblin that steals things from humans. Here is a turn around, expression sheet and a background mock-up for the film.

A character design I did. It was based on the prompt "Oracle". The real character is in the crystal ball, the rest is a costume. The idea I had fr this character was that he is a Con artist. He uses his hands to do Tarot readings. When I was researching tarot, I found that if the card is faced the right way it usually has a positive meaning but if it is placed the wrong way(Upside down) it has a negative meaning. This character would do tarot readings for people but based on how the symbols appear on his hands, they would always be negative.

This piece is based on Clonmel, the town where I attend college. I did the line art first and added a solid layer of colour. I used a watercolour brush to add the other colours to the piece.

This piece is based on the Film "Rye Lane". I really liked the cinematography of the movie so I wanted to redraw some of the shots.
